The Maritime Museum of Finland library forms part of the National Board of Antiquities collection. The collection is based at the Information Centre Vellamo, also home to the Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences and Museum of Kymenlaakso.
The printed collections at the Information Centre comprise the Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences' collections transferred to the Information Centre Vellamo, the Maritime Museum of Finland library, part of the National Board of Antiquities library collection and the Museum of Kymenlaakso reference library. The print collection comprises some 20,000 titles and 3,500 magazine annuals. Key topics include seafaring, maritime history, ship building, archipelago and inland waterways ethnology, archaeology, Kymenlaakso local history, Finnish history, cultural history, museology and aquatic conservation.
The Information Centre has books, magazines, AV and electronic materials available for teaching, study and research purposes. Users are invited to make use of our lending service and distance access and information services, and staff are always on hand to provide assistance on how best to make use of the resources available. By separate arrangement, we can also provide instruction on the use of our resources, tailored to your particular needs. Thanks to our technological solutions, users have access to all electronic resources licensed to the on-site organisations. Users are able to access an extensive and comprehensive selection of databases, electronic full-text journals and e-books.
