The Pertinotsa house

Pertinotsa exemplifies the type of northern Russian house in which dwelling rooms and cowsheds are to be found under the same roof. The main upstairs living room, with its adjoining guest quarters, was the centre of daily family activities. Storerooms are located underneath. At the other end of the building, a second story hay loft is situated above ground floor cow stalls. Pertinotsa House from Carelia.
