Arrival Instructions to Häme Castle During the Linnanpuisto Renovation (August 4, 2025-)
The Linnanpuisto park surrounding Häme Castle is under renovation until June 2026. This renovation will significantly impact access to the castle for both pedestrians and drivers at various times. From August 4, 2025 onwards, Häme Castle’s parking spaces will be out of use, and access to the castle will be possible via the southern stone bridge (located along Kustaa III Street) or via the northern wooden bridge.

Pedestrians and Cyclists
Access to Häme Castle is only possible via the southern stone bridge, located along Kustaa III Street. Passage through Linnanpuisto is not possible — the park must be bypassed via Tampereentie.
Route:
• Walk along Tampereentie
• Turn onto Kustaa III Street
• Continue to the southern stone bridge and cross it on foot — you have arrived

Drivers
The Linnanpuisto renovation affects those arriving at Häme Castle by car. The castle’s parking lot is out of use due to the construction, but alternative parking options are available nearby. The closest alternative parking area is at Museo Militaria, see the map.
Option 1: Museo Militaria Parking Lot
• Drive along Tampereentie and turn onto Vanhankaupunginkatu.
• Park your car at the Museo Militaria parking area, see the map.
• Walk approximately 150 meters to Häme Castle’s northern wooden bridge.
• Cross the northern wooden bridge on foot — you have arrived.
Option 2: Parking in Hämeenlinna City Centre
• Park in the city centre and walk approximately 10 minutes to the castle.
• Route: first walk along Tampereentie, then turn onto Kustaa III Street.
• Continue to the southern stone bridge and cross it on foot — you have arrived.
