Tiller and quarrels

A wooden tiller and three quarrels. The tiller is reinforced with iron and decorative bone inlays. Underneath the tiller is a long trigger. The crossbow is missing the prod, the string and the stirrup.

The blunt-headed quarrels were used for hunting small game, such as squirrels. Their valuable fur was not to be damaged by sharp arrows. The feathers caused the quarrel to rotate, which increased the accuracy of the shot. One of the quarrels has some of its feathers left. The other two quarrels may also have been feathered. K231
