Pulley

A pulley used to span a crossbow. The iron pulley was attached to the crossbowman’s waist belt, for example with a leather strap, so that the hooks hung downwards. When spanning the crossbow, the crossbowman would place the bowstring on the hooks of the pulley and straighten his back so that the string would rise into the roller nut on the tiller. K4458:14b
