At Kuolemajärvi 1874

The painting depicts a woman from Kuolemajärvi and her clothing in 1874. The woman in the painting is wearing a skirt, apron, a rekkopaita (traditional Ingrian woman’s blouse) with a kostuli over it. The kostuli is a garment worn over a blouse in summer, open at the front so that the front of the blouse is visible. The apron on the painting is very similar to the one on the Kuolemajärvi national costume today. Oil painting, 21.7 x 33.6 cm.
