Retractable brass telescope
A retractable brass telescope. The exterior is made of thin wood and consists of three parts. Glass lenses at each end. Manufacturer’s mark: W. CARY/LONDON.
The telescope comes from the shipwreck of the Russian archipelago frigate that sank on 9 July 1790 in the Second Battle of Svensksund, St Nikolai.
