Salt chopper from Bashkortostan

This salt chopper was collected by religious scholar Uno Holmberg (1882–1949) from Birsk, Bashkortostan, in the southern part of the Ural Mountains in 1913. Such vessels were used by the Eastern Maris for breaking up rock salt.
