Salt basket from Tver
Linguist Pertti Virtaranta (1918–1997), who studied Karelian dialects, collected materials in the area of Kalinin, present-day Tver, about 150–200 kilometres northwest of Moscow. Made of roots, the salt basket is from the house of Belyaka in the village of Puasinkoi, where Virtaranta stayed some nights during his trips to the Tver Karelians in 1971 and 1977.
