Bird-shaped salt container from Siberia

Linguist August Ahlqvist (1826–1889) visited the Khanty and Mansi peoples in Siberia twice, in the 1850s and 1870s. He collected linguistic material, but also some objects, such as this waterbird-shaped wooden salt container with a lid in 1877.
