The National Museum will offer a virtual reality game during the autumn holiday. On Tuesday 18 October, the museum will also open its new Playtime area that invites visitors to play and learn.

The National Museum will be open during schools’ autumn holiday from Tuesday to Sunday 11.00–18.00. Admission to the National Museum is always free for everyone under 18. See you there!

Playtime

The National Museum of Finland will open a new area during schools’ autumn holiday, on Tuesday 18 October. In this area, children can learn about history and experience it through play. The Playtime area is divided into three spaces full of experiences: the sea, the village and the castle. Children can experience medieval life hands-on by building a castle wall, playing with wooden swords, riding on a wooden horse and exploring the sea.

Playtime is intended for all children aged 3–10. It will open during the autumn holiday, after which it will be open during the museum’s opening hours. Young people under 18 can visit all exhibitions in the National Museum free of charge. Adults are subject to the normal price of admission.

Ingeborg Tott VR

Much like the National Museum itself, Häme Castle is also part of the National Museum of Finland family of museums. During the autumn holiday, the National Museum lets you time travel to Häme Castle in the 16th century through a game. There, you will get to meet the mighty commandant Ingeborg Åkesdotter Tott. The staff will provide instructions for playing the virtual reality (VR) game in the Playtime area on the third floor of the National Museum. There is one VR headset available at the museum that can be tested in turns. The game is available in English, Finnish and Swedish. The game is open at the following times:
