Museum Mornings
Start your morning in Helsinki learning local history and tasting local food at the National Museum of Finland. We offer you two hours of immersion into Finnish food culture, history, and heritage. You can choose the service in Japanese, English, Finnish or Swedish. The enitre museum will be opened privately for you!
Seasonal delicacies and Finnish breakfast classics are offered to your group in the restaurant. During breakfast, our guide will tell you more about Finnish breakfast traditions, the National Museum, and the history of Finland.
After breakfast, you will be led on a private tour of the museum.
The National Museum’s several exhibitions present the history of Finland from the Stone Age to the present day. The tour offers an interesting approach to various exhibitions, as our guide leads you through the museum's most interesting contents. The tour presents an assortment of highlight items from the collections, takes you through the latest exhibitions and introduces you to some key events in Finland’s history. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
The The National Museum's building was designed by the Finnish architects Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren, and Eliel Saarinen. The museum was opened to the public in 1916. With its granite façade and steatite decoration, the building is one of Finland's most significant national-romantic works of architecture. The vaulted central hall leads to the various departments of the museum. Featured on the vaults are frescoes by Akseli Gallen-Kallela made in 1928 built upon themes from the Kalevala epic.
Speciality (on request): Visiting the tower of the National Museum is a unique experience! The tower is usually closed to the public, but you can book a tour and climb all of the 174 steps up to the tower landing, from where you can see the scenery above the roofs of Helsinki. (A maximum of eleven people at a time.)
The service is available daily from 7 to 10 am in Japanese, English, Finnish or Swedish.
Pricing: €300 / group plus breakfast €15-30 / person.
Climbing up the Tower: €90 / group.
