Soup tureen

The soup tureen made by the Arabia ceramics factory and the accompanying serving dish were displayed at the 1900 Paris Exposition. The china showcased high-quality Finnish ceramics industry. The designs on the different parts of the set, the bowls, the serving dish, and the tureen, were painted by Thure Öberg (1872–1935), an artist at the Arabia factory. The sides of the tureen show the scenery from Imatra and Vallinkoski rapids, while the designs on the lid show Vyborg Castle and the ruins of Raseborg Castle, and the serving dish features Olavinlinna Castle. The set was awarded a gold medal at the exposition.
