Accessibility
The Prison – formerly the county prison of Hämeenlinna and currently serving as a museum – is located in the oldest prison cell building in Finland, dating back to 1871. Its cells are small, and both the doorways and corridors are narrow. All the exhibition rooms and cell doors have thresholds.
Wheelchairs
Navigating the Prison with a wheelchair is difficult. The Prison can only be entered via stairs. A new solution is being sought to make the entrance accessible. Indoors, the cells are small, and both the doorways and corridors are narrow.
Guide dogs
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome. However, pets are otherwise not allowed at the Prison.

Lift
The Prison has a lift that goes to all the exhibition floors.

The Prison hosts public events during summer time, and information on these is posted on the museum’s website.
Café
The Prison does not have a café. The nearest café is located at Häme Castle, next to the Prison. It can be found in the castle’s Crown Bakery, and it is open during the summer season from 1 June to 31 August. The café is on the street level, but there is a cobblestone hill, a threshold and a step before the entrance.
Museum shop and ticket desk
There is no ramp from the Prison yard to the museum shop and ticket desk.

Navigating the Prison with a pram or a pushchair is difficult.
Public toilets
The public toilets at the Prison are located on floors 1 and -1, i.e. the bottom floor.
Accessible toilet
The accessible toilet is located on floor -1, i.e. the bottom floor.
Baby changing station
The Prison does not have a baby changing station.
