CLOSED: Heikki Orvola’s embroidery

5 October–30 December 2018. Heikki Orvola (b. 1943) is one of the biggest names of Finnish design. He is known for his work with glass, ceramics, iron and textiles.

All Finns are familiar with Orvola’s Kivi votive! The artist’s lesser known masterpieces include hand-made embroidery on colourful fabric – small and unique pieces of art. These works play with recognisable and abstract shapes, deep colours and effects created by changes in the running direction of the yarn.

The exhibition will be open in the pop-up facility of the National Museum of Finland. Free entry.
